How to Host Multiple Servers on One Machine?

Hi Again,

Well I have a server that has been running a for about 5 months with out a hitch, I was trying to set up a second server, heres what I have done so far.
  1. I have made sure my router is set up for ports 9995 to 100001 opens for the PServer application.
  2. I have installed a fresh copy of the PServer for its own folder named Palace2.
  3. I have made sure the running copy of the Pserver is using ports 9998 and 10001.
  4. I have set the new server to run ports 9997 and 9999.
  5. I am using an Apache HTTP server using media folders in the HTTPDoc folder named Media and Media1.
  6. Palace server 1 is using Media and Palace Server 2 is set to use Media 1.
  7. Both are using HTTP port 8080.
I can start both servers and it is listed as being started in the server. When I go to test the connection using the address xxx.xxx.xxx.xxx:9997 I end up going to palace server 1

What am I doing wrong

Thanks,

Have you set the frontend in pserver.conf to the right port? And just to ask the obvious: did you set a different bind port for the second server: default port being 10001?

As for the media, you can serve them both from the same folder it would not make a difference. Whatever is more practical for you I guess :)

Hi,

I set the front end for the first Pserver as 10001 and the second one as 9999, in the Pserver.conf.

I am getting a sever can't bind to local address error 98.

In my Pserver.conf I have put down the address for the local PC

192.168.0.120 port 9998 for server 1
and
192.168.0.120 port 9997 for server 2

is there something I am missing in the configuration of the Pserver.Pref filethat is supose to be the same as in the conf file?

So the first Psever.conf looks like this:
----------------------------------------------
; PORT: Local port number to bind to
; Default value: 10001
PORT 10001

; FRONTEND: This adds frontends for the server. There must be at least
; one frontend specified.
; <TCP Port> <IP Address>
; Note: There can be a maximum of 10 frontends.
FRONTEND "9998" "192.168.0.120"
----------------------------------------------

and the second:

----------------------------------------------
; PORT: Local port number to bind to
; Default value: 10001
PORT 9999

; FRONTEND: This adds frontends for the server. There must be at least
; one frontend specified.
; <TCP Port> <IP Address>
; Note: There can be a maximum of 10 frontends.
FRONTEND "9997" "192.168.0.120"
----------------------------------------------

I would go for a port 10097, I know there can be problems with a range below 10000 but forgot what it was :)

No firewall on the server blocking any ports? No second frontend setup on the first server? Have you tried shutting down the main sever and see if you can reach the second one on its own?

Pserver.prefs are not important, only for the media folder.

Did you install the second server orr copy the first one¿?¿?
